Who We Are
A movement of restoration, held for two centuries.
We are the Evangelical Christian Church in Canada (Christian Disciples) — a mainstream, non-denominational body of the Stone-Campbell Restoration Movement. Our roots reach back to the formal organization of the Christian Church in 1804 in Bourbon County, Kentucky, under Barton Warren Stone, and to a small congregation gathered near Stratford, Prince Edward Island, in 1810.
Where the Scriptures speak, we speak; where the Scriptures are silent, we are silent. We hold to unity in the essentials, liberty in the non-essentials, and love in all things — governing ourselves under the Lordship and Headship of Jesus Christ rather than under man-made rules.

Bourbon County, Kentucky
The Christian Church is formally organized under Barton Warren Stone during the Second Great Awakening.

Near Stratford, Prince Edward Island
The first Canadian congregation is gathered by John R. Stewart, an immigrant from Perthshire, Scotland.

The Union
The Stone and Campbell movements unite, taking up the names 'Disciples' and 'Christians'.

The Design
The constitutional document is published; the church is governed by delegates at biennial General Assemblies.

Certified Christian Worker
Issued at the request of a pastor or mentor for those serving in the local church while preparing to fulfil their calling.

The Covenant of Licence
Granted to those pastoring, preaching or evangelizing; the holder may use the title "Reverend" and perform the functions of the church.

The Covenant of Ordination
Conferred upon candidates whose Christian maturity, ministry experience and biblical training are affirmed by the Ministerial Examination Committee.
